This Just In…

Dates of the 2016 Dow Corning Tennis Classic are January 31-February 7, a little earlier than usual to fit the schedules of top players. Sharon Cleland, Director of Tennis, is the new Director of the DCTC.

The DCTC is a USTA $100,000 Pro Circuit Event that has grown in stature and reputation, earning industry and national media attention in the “Best Tennis Town in the US.” Midland is the top stop among players from 20-plus nations, competing on the 80-city ITF-USTA Tour.

Players cite professional tournament management and “home away from home hospitality” among their reasons to “Play Midland.”

Yes You Can!

“I’m not as good as I once was, but I’m as good once as I ever was,” sang country music star Toby Keith. Obviously, Toby was thinking about his tennis game.

GMTC players of a certain age and generation come to terms with their tennis limitations if they can just stay on the court. Then suddenly it happens out of the blue, totally expected and a little scary.

As if touched by youth’s fevered pitch, a senior plays out of his mind—as good as he once was when he was very good indeed. Why is that? Let’s Google.

This phenomenon was listed under irrational exuberance for seniors who play games with strings.
